Pinguino is a one-of-a-kind salt and pepper shaker that draws inspiration from the adorable form of a penguin. Created by designer Simon Colabufalo, this innovative design combines functionality with a charming aesthetic.

The main feature of Pinguino is its clear acrylic body, which resembles a small penguin looking up. The design cleverly utilizes the penguin's traditional black and white color by allowing it to be filled with salt and pepper. This unique property adds a playful touch to any dining table.

Measuring at 100mm x 60mm x 55mm, Pinguino is a compact and practical addition to any kitchen or dining area. Its size makes it easy to handle and store, while its distinctive shape adds a touch of whimsy to the overall ambiance.

The design of Pinguino was realized using machined clear acrylic, with careful consideration given to injection mold tooling and draft angles. This attention to detail ensures a high-quality and durable product.

The Pinguino project commenced in May 2013 and was completed in August 2013 in Melbourne. During the design process, Simon Colabufalo conducted extensive research, including observing penguins in the wild and reviewing various photos, books, and documentaries. This research helped him capture the essence of these beloved creatures in his design.

Pinguino has received recognition for its exceptional design. In 2014, it was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware, and Cookware Design category. This prestigious accolade is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements.
